IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS)
Irritable bowel syndrome is amongst the commonest gastro - intestinal disorders considered to be the disorders of the gastro - intestinal motility. It is mainly of two types - constipation and diarrhea with occasional alternating diarrhea and constipation symptoms.
- DIET THERAPY
In constipation type, introduce dietary fiber or through intake of lot of vegetables and fruits.
In diarrhotic type avoid milk and milk products except curd and butter milk.
Foods to be avoided - Non - Vegetarian food items
- Spicy, oily, fried items
- Sweets, Pickles, too much of dry fruits (in diarrhea )
- Salad, cellulose containing food (in diarrhea)
- Allergic foods like brinjal, turnip, cabbage, Cauliflower etc.
- YOGA THERAPY
Asanas - Vajrasana, shashankasana, Yogamudra, Ushtrasana, Marjari asana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Trikonasana, Padhahastasana and Paschimottanasana
Pranayama - Chandrabhedana and Nadi shuddhi pranayama

- NATUROPATHIC MANAGEMENT OF IBS:
- Castor leaves hot compress over abdomen and back (20mins)
- Direct application of multani mud over abdominal area (30mins)
- Neutral hipbath (20 mins) followed by GH pack 30mins.
- ACUPRESSURE
Stimulates the reflex areas pertaining to pituitary gland, diaphragm, stomach, intestines, liver, genitals, lower back and nervous system, by giving moderate pressure for about 5 - 10 mins.
